The gospel of grace, grace is not a superior teaching!!
There was no better “teaching”, no better “direction”, “instruction”, than that of the Hebrew Scriptures.
Grace is contrasted to “teaching” because they are contrasts. What is contrasted by God – in a sense do not belong in the same atmosphere, maybe not in the same universe.
Grace
The Open Arms of God’s Love
The Open Arms of God’s Acceptance
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The Grace of God through Faith
We are undone by that which we cannot do.
We are set free from all our doings and non-doings into something totally different.
We are set free from all our doing and non-doing into total acceptance by another apart from our doing.
It is a promise, not a law, or a teaching, or explanation from God. It is His promise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(There is was a brief power glitch 30 minutes into the message. Part of the testimony regarding the USS McCook was missed. The text of the testimony is found below after the audio with some notes from the message.)

Some Challenges Concerning Faith vs. Obedience
Including: “the Disobedience of Faith”
The following is based on a personal study that I did on the words faith and believe vs the words obedience and obey in the scriptures. The blue graph “obey and obedience” is stronger in the Old Testament scriptures. The red graph “faith and believe” is significantly stronger in the New Testament.

..
God’s directions to Moses that Moses did not “obey”
10 Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation.”

D-Day account off-shore Omaha Beach
“They were close enough to watch the carnage but too far away to fire with sufficient accuracy to be sure of hitting the enemy and not US troops. Adding to their frustration, the destroy commanders had been ordered to remain clear of the beach so as not to interfere with the landing craft and to avoid the risk of running aground in shallow water
Finally, the skipper of the U.S.S McCook decided that he could no loner stand by and watch the grisly spectacle without acting. Defying orders, Lieutenant Commander Ralph Barney drove the McCook toward shore at full speed, unleashing the ship’s 5-in guns at German positions above the beach from point-blank range. Minutes later, every destroyer off Omaha followed Ramey’s lead, launching a blistering fusillade at enemy strongpoints. Within thirty minutes, half a dozen German gun emplacements had been destroyed, and the rate of fire from the top of the bluff slower considerably……. In response, one of the few working radios on Omaha was used to transmit the message: Thank God for the United States Navy.”

Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith. Romans 4:13 NLT

Secrets about Grace:
1. It is not about me! (or you!)
2. It is about God!
“There is not a record in the Bible of a single sinner saved by the grace of God who attributes anything to himself but sin.”

Here is the quote from Marvin Adams (Facebook page):
“In the late spring of 2016, I had a wreck…it’s probably not what you’re thinking. I had an EPIC collision with grace. This is after being what I would call an “on fire” Christian for almost 25 years. I had taught on intimacy and identity for two decades. But in a matter of a day I went from trying to earn my way into being a son through my zeal (always secretly feeling I was letting the Father down) to simply BEING a son who lives out of the lavish delight of my Father. I wasn’t really looking for it, and it wasn’t expected; but I know for certain that this collision with the shocking Grace of God has changed the course of my life.
Don’t get me wrong, I understood the doctrine of grace and could explain it; but it was like a cousin that I had always heard about but never met in person. I knew of grace but didn’t KNOW grace. This encounter with Abba has changed the way I do leadership, ministry, relationships and most of all my secret life in God. I am experiencing levels of joy and freedom I never thought were possible. I was delivered from a crippling depression that had clung to me since childhood, a depression I had always tried to whitewash and tuck underneath my worship garments hoping many wouldn’t notice. I now understand rest. My incessant drive for ‘strategies’ and ‘assignments’ have been replaced by the deepest desire to go on adventures with Papa and to partner with Jesus in seeing the fullness of Heaven to come to earth. His burden is easy and His yoke is truly light.
I spent years leading some awesome ministries while trying to wear Saul’s armor believing it was the normal Christian life. It hurt to wear that thing, but I had convinced myself that this was my chance to be a real deal hardcore believer. It was a subtle deception, dare I say a religious spirit. I am never going back to that way of life. My cup overflows, and I am beyond grateful for this unexpected collision in my life. Yes, I still have rough days on occasion but I’m realizing this isn’t a one time deal. I get to choose to make my home daily in this ocean of overwhelming love, acceptance, delight and grace. I am Marvin…joyful son of my Father. Praying today that you too will have a collision with this amazing Grace!”

Key Phrase:
Supernatural Freedom
Key Verse: Galatians 2:20-21
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Personal paraphrase of Galatians 2:21
“I cannot try and be godly and succeed.”
Grace Indicated
“Grace strikes us when we are in great pain and restlessness It strikes us when we walk through the dark valley of a meaningless and empty life….It strikes us when, year after year, the longed-for perfection does not appear, when the old compulsions reign within us as they have for decades, when despair destroys all joy and courage. Sometimes at that moment a wave of light breaks into our darkness, and it is as though a voice were saying, ‘You are accepted. You are accepted, accepted by that which is greater than you, and the name of which you do not know. Do not ask for the name now; perhaps you will find it later. Do not try to do anything now; perhaps later you will do much. Do not seek for anything, do not perform anything, do not intend anything. Simply accept the fact that you are accepted.’ If that happens to us, we experience grace”.
Paul Tillich, The Shaking of the Foundations (New York: Scribner’s, 1948), 161-62. Quoted in Ragamuffin Gospel P. 27-28.
Grace is a weapon of mass destruction. It will overthrow every negative. It neutralizes everything contrary to God’s nature by being the revelation of that nature. Grace is always firmly placed next to any sin or error. Where sin abounds grace shows up much more powerfully (Romans 5:20). Grace is God’s abundance in the place of man’s deficiency. Grace is the foundation for confidence in God. All growth is built on grace. It gives people a place to stand in favor. Whilst they are learning to be Christ-like, God does not punish for mistakes. He provides for them. It is a huge adjustment to move from sinful man to beloved son.

It is refreshing

Hi Pete
Always good to hear from you. Thanks again for supporting our ministry.
Blessings,
Art
Thanks for asking the hard questions. I do believe that Jesus died for my sins and he rose on the third day. And furthermore he lives in me today. Please God help my unbelief.
Encouraged to hear that you listened to the message. Blessings in Messiah!
